Should you buy network marketing leads or should you source your own leads? Is there any benefit in purchasing network marketing leads for your business?

These are questions which often come up when the topic of network marketing lead generation is discussed and the simple answer is – you need to be sourcing your own leads. The only time buying leads makes any sense is when they are exclusive to you. In other words, you need to be guaranteed that you and you are alone have access to them and they haven’t already been used by other marketers.

This is a major problem within the industry with many MLMers opting to buy instead of create their own. It’s bad enough that in the majority of cases these prospects have already been used by others but coupled with the expense and huge amount of rejection that comes with them and it’s no wonder many drop out of their businesses within three months.

Free Network Marketing Leads

When it comes to network marketing lead generation free is best. In many respects, buying leads can be somewhat of a cop out and just think for a minute, if they were so good, then why isn’t everyone retiring rich and financially free.

You see, here’s the problem with buying leads. You have absolutely no idea how many times they have been around the block. In other words, how many others have used them before they get to you. Can you imagine someone being contacted several times by network marketers over the course of a couple of months?

By the time you get to call, the welcoming mat will be well and truly withdrawn. And it’s this type of rejection which leads to many people dropping out of their business.

How To Create Your Own Network Marketing Leads

The leads you buy are not fresh, you have no control on how they were obtained and they are unresponsive. You need to have your own network marketing leads system. Generating your own leads means you have full control over where they were obtained. You won’t be forced to chase names and address which have been used several times.

There are two ways to create your own pool of network marketing leads. You make a list of names and prospect people within your warm market and you create your own network marketing lead generation system and attract prospects to you.

Either way will get you far better results than buying leads. In fact, it’s really no contest. Ultimately, creating your own network marketing leads system is the ideal scenario and this can be done both online and offline.

At the moment, online is where it’s happening so there is a learning curve but this is not an issue anymore and attracting network marketing leads into you sales funnel is easy when you are taught how.

The Project Management Professional (PMP) title is a meaningful designation to have because it documents a level of practice and professional competence that is invaluable in today’s recessionary economy, and it will set you apart from the rest of your competition – or at least, keep you up with other job seekers.

Before you can get certified, you must pass a taxing examination. The test is ambiguous and many people try but fail several times, but you can be one of those who successfully pass the exam if you take the following suggestions to heart:

  1. Take a PMP Prep course. This is the easiest and most effective way to ensure that you’ll be successful (however, it can be costly). These courses are generally brief 3-5 day intensives that are typically held shortly before you are scheduled to sit for the exam. One of the biggest benefits of such courses is the interaction you’ll have with the other participants and the ability to learn and understand how they would approach the situations, along with the rationales for their choices. If you can’t go to a course, buy one of the test software programs, or at least, take every practice test you can find – and clearly understand why any answers you missed were considered wrong by PMI.
  2. Get plenty of rest the night before taking the test. The test is long, and it is challenging, so you’ll need to be able to think clearly as you ponder the answers – especially since several of the answers may actually be true, but the test will generally ask you for the best answer, and only one answer will qualify as the best answer. You’ll need good judgment and clear thinking to be able to pick out the best from the other good answers.
  3. Remember that any answer – again, no matter how attractively they may present it – that suggests “gold-plating” (i.e., delivering more than was agreed upon) is never the right answer. Do not choose it.
  4. Remember that any answer – no matter how good it may sound – that in any way suggests that an unethical “shortcut” is the right answer – is automatically, the wrong answer. Do not choose any answer that suggests that bypassing the rules and PMI principles is okay.
  5. Pace yourself to ensure that you have enough time to answer all the questions – and take all the time you’re allowed for the test. Review your answers to make sure that you read the questions correctly and interpreted them properly (but don’t change answers without a good reason – generally, you’re first answer is the best, unless you’ve mis-read or mis-interpreted the question the first time). If you do decide to change an answer, have a good, specific reason for doing so; e.g.: “I didn’t see the word ‘not’ in the question.”

If you’ve done all of the above, you should be well prepared to take the test – and to pass it on your first shot.

Good Luck!

I’m a PMP, and I’ve found it to be invaluable over the past several years; however, even the PMP is no promise of continued employment in this market. It’s always a good idea to have a fallback plan, or in this case, a second income source. I’ve started working my own work at home business to give me residual income to carry me through those “in-between” times when I don’t have an active contract. If you’d like to learn how you, too, can develop a second income, check out my website:

Since the beginning of the recession a rat race has begun online bringing the smartest and best minds to work. Millions of people all over the world begin attempts at making money free online and usually fail. What separates these people from those that are actually able to make a stable living for themselves? Well I have spent a couple years attempting to decipher the differences between those that make it online form those who fail and I have unearthed the biggest mistake that new webmasters/bloggers make when they begin their endeavors to make a business online.

The mistake that 97% of webmasters/bloggers make when attempting to make it online is they believe working online is the same as a conventional job. What this means is people new to online business think that they will get paid automatically for the work they put in. For example if they spend ten hours working on their website or blog in a conventional sense this would make them a certain amount of money. Well online ten hours at the beginning of a website or blog is just building a foundation and usually make them nothing. For those that are new this is something they will have to understand if they want to ever make it online. The first year of a websites life is building a web presence and learning the ins and outs of marketing online which of course is always changing so even after that year it is a good idea to keep checking into the webmaster forums seeing what new ideas webmasters are coming up with to market.

This being said do not give up your job when you first start. Begin by reading and reading whether it is articles at ezinearticles.com about making money and blogging or going over the posts at forums.digitalpoint.com and asking experienced webmasters how long before they began making money with their projects. If you utilize these two resources they will give you a very good understanding of what a new webmaster must do and the time frame in which to expect the ability to work full time online. It is also a good idea to find a couple of blogs that have gained good ranking in Google and sign up to become a reader. Personally I am in the make money niche and have found it useful to sign up with the blogs in my niche. If you personally are wanting to set up a tech website or blog then it would be a good idea to read blogs on new technologies. Also find forums that are in your niche these will be filled with webmasters that you will want to work with if you want to succeed online.

After you begin getting into your niche and really getting comfortable speaking with the bloggers and webmasters in the forums it is time to begin researching your competitors. Search google for the words that you would like to be on top for. I run a few blogs on making money and a website and have found it useful to keep up with what my competitors are doing. To find out what link structures they are building I have found it useful to use yahoo’s backlink checker. If you would like to use this tool the all you will need to do is go to yahoo.com and type in link:www.yourcompetitor.com and you will not only find the number of backlinks to your competitors site but also the list. I like to go down this list commenting on the blogs and asking for link exchanges from the websites. If you have the patience and are willing to take the time there is no reason that you cannot out build any of these websites even if they have a hundred thousand backlinks. It will take a lot of time, but as I am sure you have read that is the key to making it as a webmaster.
